I've been thinking about this a lot lately and have come to this conclusion from a Christian point of view concerning "life after death on earth, spirits, ghosts and all that..."

Hebrews 9:27 wrote:
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment

There is no “in between” state of existence for us between death and eventual eternal life or eternal damnation.

Matthew 25:46 wrote:
Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

Yes, I do believe there is eternal life after death. Just depends where...

That's the basic questions answered but then there's people who absolutely believe in spirits. Here's my view:

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 wrote:
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve

it is certainly possible that such things as “spirit beings” exist, but it is not possible that such a thing as the “spirit of people who have died” also exists.
Because of this, it is certainly reasonable to assume that a demon could in fact appear to someone as the spirit of a deceased person–especially that of a loved one–if it helped the demon to carry out its evil purposes.

I have to say, I am pretty surprised by the poll results. I would have expected many more "yes" answers than "no" or "I don't know" ("don't intend to die" aren't serious answers). Perhaps it is because the type of person that might frequent a forum about computers (even though by far the majority of posts have nothing to do with computing. Yes, I mean YOU spammers!), are on average more technically inclined and tend to think more logically at things?

Interesting comment from someone posting in a spam thread that doesn't have anything to do with computer?

Life after death? Dunno but hope the Buddhists have the whole reincarnation thing kinda right.
I'd love to be a dog for a short while...

Nobody's perfect.

Reincarnation doesn't make sense to me. How would you know about it anyway? No reincarnated being is supposed to know where they come from, are they? So whether souls get reincarnated or not, they would never know about it anyway. It would be like if they one day invent teleport machines where the body at the source gets destroyed and replicated exactly on the other side. If you spoke to the transported guy he would be the exact guy that got zapped on the other end and he would feel the same way we all do when we wake up in the morning, but if he had a non-physical soul, it would be missing.

Yup! I believe that there is an eternal, glorious life after death OR an eternal, damned and painful everafter.

Thanks for summing up my feelings avout religion in general... Who knows, maybe the Buddhists have a Holy Book telling them that's how it's going to go down?

Me? I can just dream.

Yep.

A dog.

No wait.

Make that a mongrel.

With ample water.

And many trees to mark.

But seriously. The idea of a life after death the form of reincarnation appeals to me because I like the idea of getting a second chance?

In this website, an attempt has been made to provide analysis and ideas that may not be readily found elsewhere whilst at the same time trying to present the most significant and diverse evidence that is known about this subject in an objective manner while taking a scientific rational approach as best I can without bringing faith into the equation.

I have no problem with them letting nature take care of the corpses - it is the preparation of these that puts me off. While they are strangers lying there, I am fine with it. If it was someone I knew and had loved, I think that I would feel very different about it.

I side with Doo when it comes to the life after. I choose to believe that we do venture here more than once. I am of the opinion that there cannot be an infinite number of souls, so either we have souless beings walking around (and that is possible) or we come down more than once. Besides - I like the idea of being able to learn and come back as a better being every time.
