If you have the money is it worth investing in fixed focals

I have shot with a fixed lens - didn't like it. It is great for studio work though when you are in a restricted area. Outside - it you want a closer shot - you have to walk in which means you might miss the shot. But all the pros have them.

LOL tribs, I also expected a macro lens to let me move in close, my 55-200 macro is the same as urs, have to zoom in close, it aint too bad but I find camera shake to be an issue, so I try and do my macro work with a tripod if I can...

I have the shake too. I do the who sniper move but it doesn't always work. So yes - going to have to work with the tripod.
