Finished the game and figured I will post a short review.
First impressions: The game arrived at my door at around 11:00 on the 27th of July 2010. I ripped off the plastic coating and tore off the plastic on the Collectors Edition box. The box opened the same way the original starcraft 2 website opened its preview bit. I was somewhat unimpressed though at the lower than Blizzard standard packaging but make no mistake, no one can touch Blizzards collector's content and effort. So mildly disappoined at the box content it was time to install the game. 30minutes later, 2 failed installations and a error on patching I was hitting the game. And that's where my second impression had to kill this disappointing start.
Second impression: Logged into battle.net to access a single player campaign, somewhere something clearly went wrong with blizzards logic. Sad to see this was also affecting the worlds last great game developer. Selected my CE portrait, set my CE call signs and started my adventure by clicking single player and starting my campaign on Wings of Liberty. The game introduces you once again to Jim Raynor sitting at a bar drinking. To my surprise the game was rendering this in real time! That's right! Not prerendered! Actual game engine rendered graphics cinematics. The following screen was that of a Wing commander like set. You can interact with objects and so on before you eventually click on the object that starts your mission.
Finally I jumped into the game clicking and shooting my way through the stage. The funny part was it felt more like the modern C&C games than the original starcraft. The graphics are gorgeously detailed and the game doesnt have that many slowdown issues with ultra detail. The unites has a few death sequences so whenever you kill something you might see something new. After playing a few missions it was clear that Blizzard has retained the quality you would expect from them. The changes was a bit worrying at first but it finally came together into something really great.
I was even more surprised at the stuff they did with the game engine. Apart from the game rendered cut-scenes the maps would make my jaw drop in amazement. Warcraft 3 had map add some changes like rocks that would pop up and block an enterance to a cave, or a bridge fall down, or a forest would grow after a demon corruption was removed. Starcraft 2 manages to change the terrain. A stage would have a lava flow rise that would cover the low and mid ground leaving only the high group as a safe haven. A protoss mothership would shoot and blast a crater into the ground. And a space platform would be destroyed.
There was doubt in my mind that the merge that activision and blizzard had would kill the once great legacy that blizzard had. I am happy to say they still know what they are doing.
My verdict: A Starcraft game for Starcraft fans. One of the best games this year. Score - 9/10

Hey Guys/Gals I just signed up this morning and who would have thought my first post would be on a Starcraft Thread This game is too nice. I had a good look at the difference between ''Ultra High'' Settings and ''High'' settings, I must say that a game like this needs to played on Ultra Hi as there is just tooo much detail you cannot afford to miss. I did also notice that Shadows dropped down to Med. didnt make a difference to the naked Eye (atleast my eyes lol) as well as the Frame rate! P.S: the arcade game in the Canteen just owns A game within a game = Priceless

Just like with World of Warcraft, hard mode achievements are HARD!

Or you can try eBay. Why you never just pre-ordered and had it delivered to your home and then make plans to have it posted down to you I will never know.
