Its a 64 bit CPU!
Do you think its backward compatible with a 32 bit OS ?
Yeah, don't worry about that. 64 bit CPU's have been with us for many years now (all of them are basically 64 bit capable).

thanks! Hope i will get it to work cus.

As far as I know Atom D510 does not work at all with the Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04, since there is no integrated support for the GPU. I hope to build a low power atom based 'nettop' and run ubuntu on it, but the problem is that there is no support for that so I have think about it again. Basically I do not want to use Window 7.

I did my research before i bought but , Murphy's law you only find out what you need to know too late!

Some good info on this thing.

By the way why is double posts not allowed ?

this box will be used in a very remote location where there is frequent power failures.
So i'm still weighing my options to use a flashdrive instead of the harddrive, but besides that.

If the power had to fail i need it to come on again once power is available again.
Any ideas.

Someone mentioned to me that i can use some sort of timer which can run a relay for 1sec to a few mins.
Once you apply power to it, you can adjust it to open the relay for 1 sec and it will release again and repeat what i just said
after you remove and apply power again.
So then i can connect the relay to the power switch to simulate , pressing the power button.

any other ideas ?

A lot of PC's have the option to power on when power comes back online (My miniITX board does it by default, which is friggen irritating. Grrrrrrrrr)

It should only come on if the power was removed, but if you have shutdown properly it shouldn't ?

Well thats what most servers do.
